Get the perfect shade of white to suit your home.
1: Pick a Tone
There are hundreds of different whites – some blue toned, some yellow, some grey – and how they look can also vary with what type of paint they are, such as chalky of wipeable.
2: Consider the Light
Cool whites with a blue or black base neutralise the bright light, so they work well in south facing rooms that get a lot of sun. In a room that does not get much light go for warm cream or yellow ones instead. For rooms that receive plenty of sunlight, any white you use will look brighter, while in a windowless spot, a crisper white will lighten the area.
3: Do a Patch Test
Paint a few different shades on your walls. Look at them at various times of day in different lights, as results can vary greatly.
