Banksia Rose Climbing Plant. I have both a white and a yellow one growing over an arbor on the back fence of my garden. This climber grows before your very eyes, it requires constant pruning to maintain shape.
Rosa Banksiae (Lady Banks Rose) ‘Lutea’– This is a thornless, bushy climber with stems 4-6m long and dark green. Dense axillary clusters carry white or butter yellow flowers. Small flowers each about 20mm across. This plant originated in China. It suits temperate regions and is great for training over a pergola or a trellis or fence.
This rambler rose can grow quite big to 4.5m – 6m tall and 1.8m -2.5m wide and can easily take over if not tamed. You can propagate this rose with cuttings of firm young wood, it apparently can strike readily although I have not personally tried this.
From my experience this plant has only flowered once at the beginning of the season.
Yellow Banksia Rose
This is the yellow banksia climber I have growing in my garden when it was in bloom.
