For Connecticut-based designer @sarahblankdesign, striking a balance between functionality and elegance is essential in any kitchen. “We wanted to curate for a home chef who would be looking at the space in a more fundamental way, but also for the person that really wants to walk in and be wowed,” explains Blank. To achieve this balance at the @kbshowhouse, Blank decided to paint the expansive cabinetry a splashy azure color (Dragon Blue by Benjamin Moore). “You don’t have to be afraid of color, especially in the kitchen,” says Blank. At the center of the space, a European tailor’s table from @authenticprovence allows guests to huddle around the island for breakfast in the morning or hors d’oeuvres in the evening. Via Veranda

A family room, an original wood beam and an antique-inspired armchair designed by bespoke furniture artisan Christopher Howe lend atmospheric age to contemporary details like the Soane floor lamp, custom Vanderhurd rug, and iron fireplace and hood.
